50th Year Celebrations

Hurst Knoll St. James' is 50!

2021 was a very special year for us all at Hurst Knoll St. James’ as the school was 50 years old! Throughout the year, we will worked with pupils, staff and family members to explain what makes Hurst Knoll so special and to give people the chance to share their memories of the school to this point. 

To kick-start these celebrations, we commissioned contemporary artist – Jim Wheat of dollarsandart.com – to create a modern piece of work which captures the essence and unique nature of our school. Jim engaged with our long-standing members of staff to get their view of the school during the time they have been here. They discussed what makes school special, how it has changed and what the future may hold. Jim was given the freedom to use this knowledge when creating the art work and has worked with school staff at varying stages of the process.

The pictures below show the creative process in action and also the finished pieces in their new permanent home.
