Welcome
Welcome to the website for Hurst Knoll St. James' CE Primary School
Thank you for taking the time to visit the website for Hurst Knoll St. James’ CE Primary School.
Our school, which opened in 1971, is a one-form entry Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School linked to St. James’ Church in the Parish of the Good Shepherd and St. John The Evangelist Church - both in the Diocese of Manchester.
We aim to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment in which every child is challenged and learns academically, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. We aim to teach each child how to be a good citizen in 21st Century Britain. We endeavour to develop students who will work hard, challenge injustice and be valuable members of the school and wider community. As a school, the values of Trust, Hope, Forgiveness, Kindness and Justice are at the heart of everything that we do.
Our broad, balanced and engaging curriculum challenges the children’s learning and understanding, provides opportunities for them to lead their own learning and encourages them to ask and answer their own questions. We believe it is important that children co-operate and collaborate and that communication and teamwork are a vital part of human development. We encourage the development of these skills through a variety of lesson and learning structures.
Throughout every aspect of school life; including our curriculum, the relationships we build, our school development plan and priorities, our policies and our Christian Ethos, we aim to reflect God’s loving care for us all.
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when they are old, they will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6
