RE

As a voluntary controlled Church of England Primary School, we follow the agreed local authority syllabus for Religious Education. Within this programme of study, the children learn about God as the creator and sustainer of the world and Jesus as a teacher and healer. Topics within the curriculum cover what the children can learn about religion and what they can learn from religion. Children have the opportunity to relate their learning to their own lives and to discuss how religious beliefs affect the lives and behaviour of others.

Religions studied within the curriculum include Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism. Children learn about the religious practices within each religion, study religious buildings and learn about the wide range of festivals observed. Alongside this, children also study key current issues where their religious knowledge and understanding can help to inform their views and the views of others.
