Year 6

Class Teacher: Miss Hughes and Mrs. Burke (Mon -Weds)

Teaching Assistant: Mrs. Shaw

Key Information:

PE

PE will be taught by Josh from Tameside Active and Mr Davenport.

PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Correct kit must be worn for all lessons.  Children can leave their kit in school during the week if you wish.

Reading at home Reading is vitally important.  All children have a reading book and a Reading Record that should be signed off each time your child reads at home.  Please encourage them to read independently at home and also read with them, making sure that they understand what they are reading. Ten minutes a day can make a huge difference to their reading ability and speed.
Spellings There will be a spelling test every Monday.  Spellings will be available on Class Dojo every Monday to learn over the week. Please help your child to learn these spelling words as they revise common spelling rules as well as common exception words (those words outside of the common spelling rules).

Music

Music will take place on Tuesdays. Children will be able to take their instruments home to practise, as long as parents have signed a copy of the instrument agreement letter (please see your child’s class teacher). Children will be taught by Mr. Roast from Tameside's Music Service.

Water bottles

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day.  We are not able to provide washable cups for children to use.
Communicating with staffWe use the Class Dojo app for communicating messages from class.  Please make sure you are able to use this. There is always a member of staff available at the start and end of days if you have any queries or concerns.
